- 2004-09-05 Main Latvian IT magazine has Linux as the feature of the September and also carries a detailed 5 page article about software pattents written by Aigars Mahinovs. Four most recognised IT personalities of Latvia also express their opinion along of the article and all of them stand clearly against the software patents. One of the is more carefull then the others as he represents Tilde - a company that makes localisation software for Microsoft
2004-09-01 After many revisions, the Urgent call is delivered to the Latvian Prime minister along with a 10 page long explanation of everything we specifically do not like in the directive and requesting to recall Latvian vote. The letter was a public one and was also published by both major Latvian news agencies. The press release is also at LAKA home page
- 2004-08-17 One of main Latvian newspapers - Dienas Bizness writes an article asserting the need of clarifications in the directive
2004-05-18 LV delegation votes for EU Council's "Political Agreement" against Parliament
2004-05-0x previously LV governmental officials had stated that they were not in favor of the paper and in particular wanted to support the Parliament's Art 6a (interoperability), also the Latvian main IT association LITTA clearly stated to the government that "the directive in its current form in unacceptable" also some prominent IT speakers have said that the directive in its current form could riun Latvian IT industry
